With spring comes new beginnings, and with that some of our Newham clients have decided to embrace exercise. Residents have been asking to do yoga for a few weeks after seeing a video on YouTube. So, mats were arranged, and a date and time were added to the calendar (Wednesday’s 11:30am). Residents have attended over the last couple of weeks and has really developed their technique and found their favourite moves including ‘cat/cow’ and ‘corpse pose’ (lying flat on your back with your eyes closed). It has been great to see them each week develop. When asking a resident if he was enjoying the yoga he said “yes it makes me feel goooooooood”
Yoga is not the only new exercise our residents have embraced. One of our residents has started going to Dance classes once a week. She had a great time and even had her carer dancing. She has even taken up a weekly Pilates classes, again getting her carer involved. They both had a blast and learnt new moves including ‘pigeon pose’ and ‘butterfly’.
