Gordon Colling House

We have had another celebration at Gordon Colling House, our administrator is getting married and on her last day we gave her a special send off. Planning the wedding during Covid has not been easy with guidance changing. This inspired us to do all we can to once again not let Covid beat us! In passing she mentioned she wanted everything white, so we took that comment as our cue. The office team all wore white, the care workers on shift had white wedding favours (with white chocolate hearts) and we stayed late to decorate a room all white. We then set out to plan afternoon tea at the Ritz style at Gordon.

Our service users and staff team decided to fill a book with their own tips on a long and happy marriage, some I cannot share here……but am sure she and her husband can look and learn from these in their married life.

Wootton

I have a secret to share in that whatever safe guidelines we must adhere to we are planning a pantomime and commence weekly rehearsals at the end of this month. We have a dame, but I am sworn to secrecy…

This will bring much needed entertainment to our service users and give our staff something fun to do and an additional way to make our service users laugh, I am certain whatever role I am given will be the one no one wants…..

St Bedes

We decided after a very busy few months and saying goodbye to a service user who moved away to live with her family, we needed something to cheer us up! Chocolate is always a good plan but our Scheme Coordinator says it has to be earned so we issued a Covid challenge  for our care team and service users to find a word associated with this for every letter of the alphabet we are hoping for some positive words here too….but so far we have M for masks and K for keyworkers!!! Which pretty much sums it up.

My message to my teams

I continue to be blown away with how hard you have worked, how positive we have all been and how much you have inspired me throughout the pandemic. You follow the guidelines and carry on caring so naturally. It gives me so much pleasure to guide and support all our staff and they make me smile every day. Just seeing them interact with a service user or if they receive a compliment (always well deserved) I literally jump for joy for them.

Thank you to the whole team, no one will ever forget their colleagues especially not their Covid ones! Special beautiful people, I am so proud of you and I hope you all know that
